Harlan, Kentucky is the home of Black Mountain Offroad Park which boasts 200 miles of marked and rated trails on approxiamately 7,000 acres of mountainous terrain. While Harlan has quite a few hotels - the trailheads (and local camping) are 8 miles away. To the east, on highway 38 is Evarts, which is the main (and easy) trailhead. To the northeast, on highway 119 is the Putney trailhead and the Harlan County Campground.
Crawl 4 Christ is being hosted at the Harlan County Campground at the Putney Trailhead. While the eletric sites are limited, there is unlimited primitive camping! It is a great campground, with great facilities! If you choose to stay at HCC, in unfavorable weather, stock and slightly modified rigs may need to travel around the mountain to the easy trailhead, about 17 miles. Coming down the Putney side isn't as bad as going up, so most can return to the campground via that side.
